I wrote a book —or rather, I should say, began writing a book a few years back on the lives of women who choose not to work i.e. housewives/homemakers. After much research, interviews, and writing over 30,000 words, I abandoned it. Unfortunately, this isn’t unusual for me —as you may have noticed, I’ve shared two essays from what I hope will be a full commentary on my first book, 40 Hadith of Aisha. And I think I’ve even shared an essay from an essay collection I also hope to publish one day in the future. Funny enough the book that I’ll be publishing shortly isn't any of the three I just mentioned but another altogether. I can say a bit more confidently that it will be published very soon because it’s officially off to an editor so there’s no turning back (I hope).
Anyway, none of this has anything to do with the essay you’re about to read, just a little peek behind the scenes. Thank you for choosing to be a paid subscriber so I can share with you excerpts of my unpublished works way before they get to the finish line. Now, on to the essay! Feeamanillah.
